Principal's Message

Welcome to Pinecrest Public School!

Welcome to November! This month brings a time change on November 4th when the clocks will go back one hour. November also brings colder weather and often snow. Please ensure that all of your child’s hats, mitts, snow pants etc. are labelled with their names.  If your child is missing any items please encourage them to look in the lost and found.

On November 8th your child’s progress report will be sent home. The purpose of a progress report is to give you an initial look at how your child is progressing at this time. It will provide important information on their learning skills and will let you know how they are progressing in a variety of subject areas.  There are no grades on the progress report; grades will be included in the report card in January.

On the evening of November 22 or the morning of November 23 you will have an opportunity to meet individually with your child’s teacher. More information on how to sign up for this will be coming home with your child.

On Thursday November 15th we will be holding our School Council elections at 6:00 pm in the library. Please contact me if you wish to nominate yourself or someone else to be a candidate for the election.

I am excited to let you know that we are practising for a school musical called Taking Off which will be performed on December 19th and 20th. All classes in the school will be participating in this musical. Information regarding show times and tickets will be shared in December.

Lastly, our character trait for the month is empathy. As we commemorate Remembrance Day in November this is a poignant time for students to reflect on empathy. Our assembly for Remembrance Day will be on Monday November 12th at 11:30 am.
