Principal's Message

Welcome to Pinecrest Public School!

May is a wonderful time of growth! It is amazing to see how all our students have grown physically & academically. They are so proud to share all the things they can do now that they could not do earlier in the year. Now that our yard is free of snow and play structures are open, children are so excited to demonstrate their growth in social skills as they play together outside.

Mr. Mackay’s grade 4 class have been busy growing flowers for the gardens. It was a very exciting time yesterday as we gathered outside with shovels and rakes to plant more than 35 plants. At the end of our work one of our students stepped back and declared, “This is beautiful!” Our hope is that all our Pincerst visitors will enjoy the beauty created by our students & our Garden Towers.

May is also a time that we begin planning classes and staffing for the 2018/2019 school year. I will take this opportunity to let you know that I will be moving from Pinecrest P.S and going to Sir Winston Churchill P.S. Please join me in welcoming Karen McMorine who will be taking my place.

This month our students will be practicing the character trait of Perseverance. Students have worked hard to continue to build upon a variety of strategies to enable them to stick to a task and demonstrate their best efforts.

A huge thank you to our families for coming out to our Family Math Night. It was an exciting time together to explore math concepts and play with manipulatives many of which can be found around your home.

We are looking forward to celebrating our learning during Education Week which is coming up May 7th - 11th. Our grade 5’s will be holding a Spring Fair on the evening of May 17th as part of their partnership in the Entrepreneurial adventure. Look forward to more info coming your way soon.

Wishing you a wonderful Spring,

W. Mills-Boone & Mr. Richardson
